The Maison de la Luz is a very special new luxury hotel in New Orleans. Clare was commissioned to contribute to its beautiful interior, designed by Studio Shamshiri. She conceptualized and created an altar piece in the center of the lobby featuring delicate and magical porcelain snakes tied in complicated nautical knots. The piece’s intention is to appease the water gods and goddesses of this wet city. Clare also created bedside sculptures for all of the hotel’s suites — anatomical heart shrines made out of bits and bobs, hand-stitched sculpture, found treasures, and hand-painted mystical cards.
